Nitty Gritty

OK, I've been keeping it cool, and honestly, I haven't thought a thing about FW4 until the past two days ... there just hasn't been time, and I'm sure we all know how that is.

But now I'm getting into it, my boss asked for my itinerary, and I know I want to be completely prepared and in a the zone to get the most out of this experience!

We have:
Schedule, check
Equipment list, check,
Clothing list, check

What I just wanted to make sure of is:
How are we getting from the airport to the Ranch/Hotel, etc? Someone is picking us up, right? Is it going to be limo-style, i.e. a person with a card with our name at it, or a bus or what?

Is Day One more lecture style sitting at desks, more interactive, case studies vs. theory??

For Life or Family shoots, I'm still not 100 percent sure what is going on here. I have a life shoot and would like to know a little more about our role and assignments so I can start brainstorming. In my mind, I'm thinking it's similar to an intense two-day feature story package, but I honestly don't know. Is the goal that 1 perfect shot? Is it comprehensive coverage? etc. Do participants create a title and story of pictures? I'm curious because we have wedding shooters and newspaper shooters as instructors, so any more insight would help.

Thanks! As those annoying NBC Olympics Commentators would say ... I'm stoked!

Joe,

Day One is a day of just presentations. There'll be no shooting, obviously. We want you to kick back and explore and challenge your minds and question everything photographically. Maybe there'll be a little business talk mixed in but we really want to stimulate your photo mind.

The assignments are simple opportunities for you all to show us how you think and how you shoot. We'd like to get to know you a little more, well, a lot more :) The assignments are just vehicles for you to challenge yourself and for us to assist you in thinkinh beyond your norms.

I hope you will have fun with the assignments. We're looking for a collection of good images from each participant. But more importantly, we want to see you learn by going through the process even if you don't make awesome pictures.

It's not a competition :)
